Expository Essay: Extreme Emotions

Honk Honk, Sam is in the 5 o’clock traffic jam, his emotions are running high, face is turning red and he needs to calm down, but it is hard to tame his beastly emotions when he has a grumpy old man behind him yelling his head off. Dealing with extreme emotions is an important and useful skill to possess while in stressful times. Whether dealing with grumpy people or just a bad day, it is important to deal with one’s emotion. By dealing with extreme emotions and not turn into a ball of flames, one can make their physical health better and their relationship stronger.

Dealing with extreme emotion can make one’s physical life healthier, or worst if not controlled, by reducing their risk for heart attack and slow their heart rate. For example, every year around 785,000 people in the United States will suffer from their first heart attack for stress. Around 470,000 people will suffer from a second or third heart attack. Which means that about 1/3 of people in the U.S. will experience a heart attack caused by stress. So that’s a big reason to keep your body and heart calm. In addition, dealing with extreme emotions can lower one’s heart rate, which can, by the way, prevent one from having a heart attack. By lowering one’s heart rate they allow their body to stay calm and controlled. Therefore, dealing with extreme emotions can make one’s life healthier and more safe.

Not only a person’s physical health, but also their relationship is affected by extreme emotions. For example, when working with a team in any sport, it is important to have a strong relationship with the other members of the team, but that is hard to do when Matt is fighting with Bob like a vicious animal. If one does not have a good relationship with his or her teammates because of anger, the team would fall apart. Furthermore, it is important to deal with your emotions when making friends. No one wants mean or jealous friends. Therefore, when dealing with one’s friends or teammate, it is important to stay calm and manage your emotions internally.

Rather than becoming a raging ball of fire and blowing a gasket,it is important to deal with extreme emotions so that one doesn’t harm themselves or their relationship.
